Privacy

GameChest is run by Nuno Veiga, in the UK, who is the controller of your personal data. You can reach us at nuno@newnew.consulting or through the feedback button in the app.

• Account details: your email address, display name and sign-in details. Passwords are handled by our sign-in provider and stored only in hashed form.
• What you add: your collection and what you record about it, such as plays and the scores kept on them, notes, prices, photos and rankings.
• Connections: your friends and household, and any accounts or apps you choose to connect, such as BoardGameGeek, eBay or an AI assistant.
• Usage and technical data: sign-in sessions (including browser and IP address), activity on your account, and the logs needed to run and secure the service.
• Messages: feedback and anything else you send us, and our replies to your feedback, which only you see.

We use your data to provide GameChest: to run your account and shelf, show it to the people you choose, work with the services you connect, send the emails you've asked for, and keep the service working and secure. The legal basis is our agreement with you to provide the service, and our legitimate interest in running it properly.

The person who runs GameChest can access account information where needed to operate and support the service. We don't sell your data or use it for advertising, and we don't make automated decisions about you with legal or similar effects.

Your shelf is private unless you share it.

• Friends you connect with see part of your collection and some of your recent activity. They don't see what you paid, your notes, your photos or the details of your plays.
• Someone you share a household shelf with sees and can change everything on it.
• Links you create, to your shelf or a ranking, can be opened by anyone who has them.

You can change who sees your shelf under Settings → Who sees your shelf.

We use a small number of providers to run GameChest. They process data on our behalf, under their standard data-protection terms:

• Vercel and Cloudflare, to host the app and run its domain;
• Supabase, for the database, sign-in and photo storage;
• Resend, to send email;
• Anthropic, for the AI features. When you or a friend uses one, the information that feature needs is sent, which can include what that friend can see of your shelf.

If you choose to connect them, we also exchange data with:

• BoardGameGeek, to read your collection and, if you ask, update it. Your BGG password is never stored.
• eBay, to publish your listings and see when they sell. Photos in a listing are made public so eBay can show them.
• An AI app you connect, such as Claude or ChatGPT, which can read and change your shelf as you. What it reads goes to that app's maker, under their terms. You can disconnect it in Settings.

Our database is stored in the European Union. Some providers may process data elsewhere, including in the United States.

GameChest only uses cookies it needs to work, such as keeping you signed in. There are no advertising or analytics cookies. The app may also keep some data on your device, such as a copy of your shelf so it opens without a connection.

We keep your data for as long as you have an account, unless you delete it sooner. When you delete your account, your data is removed from GameChest, and our backups keep a copy for up to 7 days.

A few things can outlast that. Some stored files can take longer to remove; ask at nuno@newnew.consulting and they'll be removed. Other people's own records may still mention you, and anything already sent elsewhere at your request, such as an eBay listing or a change to your BGG collection, stays there. Some logs are kept for shorter periods, and our providers keep their own under their own terms.

You can download your shelf from Settings, and delete your account there.

Under UK data-protection law you can ask for a copy of your personal data, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to its use, and take it elsewhere. Contact nuno@newnew.consulting; we'll reply within a month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, at ico.org.uk.

GameChest is for people aged 13 and over.
